Welcome to the very first of our monthly link-up series, A Look Back! I’m so excited to be hosting this series, along with Absolute Mommy, Covered in Grace, and The Houtz House Party. We hope you enjoy this series and will participate by linking up!
We want to know who you were, where you were, and what your life was like in the year we are covering each month. After everyone has linked up, we will have this wonderful treasury of memories from that year, from all different people, from all different places and walks of life.
As I had the original idea for this series, I decided to start with the year 1984, because that’s the year I was born!
I was born on May 23rd, 1984, at 8:07am. I weighed 7 pounds, 10.5 ounces, and I was 20 inches long. My mom recorded in my baby book that she and my dad “stopped at Denny’s on the way to the hospital.” …Clearly I was second in priority to corndogs a scheduled c-section.
I was baby #2, and baby girl #1 for them! My older brother is about 3.5 years older than me. They named me Megan Lynn; “Megan” because they liked it, and “Lynn” because that is also my mom’s middle name.
In my baby book, my mom wrote:
“I can’t express adequately how happy Larry and I were when the doctor said, “It’s a girl!” Dr. Roper held you next to my face so I could kiss you before they took you to the nursery. While I waited in the recovery room all the nurses referred to me as “the one who just had that beautiful baby girl.”
She also wrote that I slept 7-8 hours a night right away (you’re welcome, Mom), and she pasted the word “feisty” as a way to describe me!
In 1984, my parents were living in a small house in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. My dad worked at a software company, and my mom was a first grade teacher. Reagan was president, the hit song was Stevie Wonder’s “I Just Called To Say I Love You,” and the average price of a new home was $87k.
I can’t say I have a lot of memories from this year, but apparently we visited Storyland, in New Hampshire:
I liked to eat!
And I celebrated my first Christmas!
Survey:
Age: newborn
Where you lived: Old Orchard Beach, Maine
Favorite activities/pastimes: sleeping, eating, learning to crawl
Vacations taken: Storyland and lots of trips to the beach!
Best friend(s): my big brother, Christopher
Favorite book: probably any board book I could get my mouth on
Favorite place to be: the beach, of course!
Favorite outfit/Fashion trends: I probably rocked some onesies.
Did you have any “firsts” this year? Oh you know, first breath, first food, first everything!
What did you do for your birthday or a special holiday? I was born!
Thanks so much for reading! Now grab a button and link up below!
