Embracing 30

by Megan

One of my 20 Wishes for this year is to “embrace 30.” Well, today’s the day, and it’s time to embrace!

Yep, it’s my birthday. 30 years ago today my parents headed for the hospital, but not without a quick side trip to Denny’s. #priorities

There’s me, waving hi, with big brother!

I think I’m ready to be 30. My 20s were very fullI met my husband, graduated from college, moved cross-country, got married, bought a house, and had three kids.

Everyone has been telling me that the best is yet to come, and I believe them. They should know! I feel like my 20s were spent trying to figure out who I am, and just in the past couple of years, I feel like I really know. And when you know who you are and what you want, you can just shed all of the unnecessary stuff that’s wasting your time and holding you back.

My 20s were a time of making choices. Up until then, it was pretty clear what I was supposed to do. I lived with my parents, and I went to school. I had friends and hobbies. Now, at 30, I have a family of my own, and so I work and take care of my kids and house. I still have friends (plus a husband!) and hobbies and church responsibilities. In my 20s, I had choices. I chose to go to college, I chose to get married, I chose to move across the country. I could have chosen other things, but I’m glad I didn’t.

It’s time to be 30. It’s time to be Mom. It’s time to have a 1st grader, a 3-year-old, and a baby. In another year or two it will be time to welcome another, final, member to our family.

I am a daughter, sister, wife, and mother. But I will also be a blogger by day, and a leading lady by night. I will run a marathon. I will take exciting trips, and I will check things off my bucket list.

Last night as I was falling asleep, I was thinking about which word I would choose, if I had to wish for one thing for the next decade. I thought about love, money, weight loss, and success. Then I decided on “fun.”

Let’s have fun. Let’s rock this.
