Best Baby Products

by Megan

Today I’m combining Top Ten Tuesday with the new 13 in 2013 link up over at The Houtz House Party, and the topic is best baby products!

My kids are 4 and almost 2, and I have one on the way, so I have a decent amount of experience with baby products! Here are ten that I love or have found useful:

1. Boppy Pillow

Boppy = life saver. I used this thing nonstop while my kids were babies. Obviously it’s fantastic for nursing, but they lounged in them a lot and even slept in them. I often let them take naps next to me on the couch when they were newborns, in their boppy pillow. It can also be used for tummy time, and it’s a decent pillow for mom, in a pinch!

Please note that the Boppy pillows are not made for sleeping, and the company makes that known with a tag on the pillow. I never had a problem with using it for naps, but don’t rely on my experience.

2. Diaper Genie

Keeps the odors out. It’ll be a great day when I no longer need this in my home, but it works!

3. MAM Pacifiers

I buy this brand religiously because both of my kids liked them. Carter liked his a lot…he gave it up at two years old, Vanessa much earlier!

4. Walmart Diapers

When I first had Carter, Walmart diapers were not very good quality. But at some point they improved their design, and I have had no problems since then. They are the cheapest and they do the job!

5. Huggies Wipes

On the contrary (from above), I have found generic wipes to be no good! Mostly this is because they don’t pull up the next wipe after you pull one out of the box, so I was constantly reaching all around to get the next wipe out and tearing them, etc. I only buy Huggies now, and they are great! Best bang for your buck.

6. Nursing Cover

Mine is Bebe Au Lait brand, and I love it! I didn’t have one with Carter, and I was always messing around with blankets. I will definitely be using this with my other babies!

7. Swing

Our Graco swing was a hit with both kiddos. They grow out of them quickly, but sometimes the rocking helped them to take a nap when they wouldn’t otherwise!

8. Baby Einstein Caterpillar

Both of my kids loved this toy from birth through about two years old. It has three different positions for babies who are lying on their back, sitting up, and standing up. The lights and music are fun, and there are enough different activities to keep their interest for awhile. I don’t know if they are still selling these, but all the Baby Einstein toys are great!

9. Tommy Tippee Bottles

Vanessa had a hard time transitioning from breast to bottle, so I bought just one of these Tommy Tippee “closer to nature” bottles. Not only did she take to it right away, but I didn’t have to buy any more (they are a little more expensive than regular bottles). Once she had used one of these, it was as if she “got it” and was able to drink from any bottle!

10. Tummy Time Blanket

Lastly, every baby needs a blanket to lay around on, preferably one with activities. Mine was from a friend, who got it at Ikea. As you can tell from the photo above, this blanket will keep your baby entertained…and active…and engaged…unless they fall asleep on it. It’s good for that too.

And hey, if all else fails:

Great post! :) We use (and love) the Tommee Tippee bottles as well! Our little guy has no trouble transitioning from nursing to bottle feeding! I really feel like these bottles are the reason for that! :)

That’s good to know about the Walmart diapers. I’ve used them in the past but they weren’t very good. I’ll have to check them our again.
